Greetings and salutations, dear readers!
Wow, it’s hard to believe it’s already almost July. What a long, strange year it’s been…
Anyway, it’s time for some good news: the GODZILLA NOVELIZATION PROJECT is proud to present the next chapter of Godzilla vs. Gigan: The Unofficial Novelization! After a bit of dormancy, the latest installment is finally here, and it was a blast to write.
This chapter was a fantastic example of just why I love writing this particular novelization. As I’ve mentioned elsewhere, the characters of Godzilla vs. Gigan are some of my favorites in the series, and having the chance to work with those characters has been a treat. Gengo in particular is a blast to explore, and this chapter is a bit of a dive into his creative process as an artist. As Gengo sketches his new monsters – the undeniably-awesome Shukra and Mamagon – in his studio, his reservations about World Children’s Land begin to weigh on his troubled mind and distract him from his job. It was a prime part of the plot to expand upon, and a good place in the story to do it.
Also, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that this chapter also covers the delightfully-infamous “You cheeky pig!” scene, in which Gengo gets busted by his girlfriend for drawing one of those monsters – Mamagon – to look like her. Ah, young love…
(And for those wondering, the words “cheeky pig” – being a product of the dub – are not used here. As much as I love that line, it wasn’t accurate to what was actually being said, and was therefore dropped from this retelling. Maybe it’ll pop up as an Easter egg later in the novel…)
Anywho, this chapter was great fun to write. Follow this link to give it a read!
Thank you for your continuing support of the GNP. Some big announcements are coming in the next few weeks, so stay tuned!
