“THE TWO MIGHTIEST MONSTERS OF ALL TIME… IN THE MOST COLOSSAL CONFLICT THE SCREEN HAS EVER KNOWN!”
The Godzilla Novelization Project is thrilled to present the first chapter of the novel adaptation of 1962’s King Kong vs. Godzilla, the beloved 3rd entry in the franchise, and STILL the most attended Godzilla film of all time.
This is a particularly exciting opportunity for the GNP, as this adaptation will tackle the legendary Japanese version of the film, still unreleased in North America and illusive for many fans in the states. Ishiro Honda’s original, uncut epic is a very different beast from the highly altered 1963 US cut that most English-speaking fans are familiar with, and having the opportunity to present that version in English via a full novel is an exciting challenge that I am ecstatic to be tackling!
(And for fans of the US cut (and really, who isn’t?), don’t worry… I’ll be working in some references to some of its most memorable moments as I go along! Who knows, maybe I’ll do a special Steve Martin Report-style novella that tells the story from Eric Carter’s point of view…)
